Meta (Facebook) Launches NFTs
Just in case you didn’t catch it, Facebook changes its name to Meta. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been a supporter of NFTs and had announced integration of non-fungible tokens onto the Facebook platform. Well, it seems like the wait is finally over – web3 community rejoice! To be fair, they are still in the testing phase, but displaying your NFTs could be closer than you think on the social platform.
First it begins with Facebook, but Mark Zuckerberg and Navdeep Singh, product manager, pledge to bring NFTs to Instagram in the future as well.
Singh addresses anticipated excitement for Facebook NFT support by releasing some screenshots of what’s yet to come. If there ever was any doubt that NFTs are here to stay, Meta’s adoption of it is an indication of a solid foothold for the NFT space.
There will be a “digital collectibles” tab on the Facebook mobile screenshots shared by Singh, but because this is still considered a test run, the feature is only available in North America, and only for a select number of content creators.
While it’s still not fully accessible yet for the everyday NFT collector, it’s still awesome to see what’s to come. The new posting feature allows users to post their NFT assets to their timeline and once you click into it, information about the NFT collection and creator is displayed.
As of now, posting NFTs on Facebook only supports ETH (Ethereum) and MATIC (Polygon) NFTs, but we’re pretty sure the social media giant will incorporate NFTs from other chains down the line.
