Calling All Coffee Drinkers! NFTs Have Come to Starbucks

Starbucks plans to utilize the Polygon blockchain, a layer 2 solution to Ethereum (which sees cheaper gas fees and faster transactions) to start a loyalty program with NFTs.

So, what do loyal and avid coffee drinkers get by participating in this program? People will have the chance to earn and buy stamps, which are in the form of digital collectibles. These NFTs will offer Starbucks supporters benefits and access to immersive coffee experiences.

The platform is called Starbucks Odyssey, and the waitlist is currently open! The plan is to launch the platform later this year, but it seems it may only be available in the U.S. We hope that the platform and the big wigs at Starbucks look at global adoption of NFTs in the future, but for now, we will have to as our American readers about the experience.

Starbucks is one of the first companies to adopt NFTs into their loyalty program and we’re hopeful that they won’t be the last.
